Genetic Programming IV: Routine Human-Competitive Machine Intelligence presents the application of GP to a wide variety of problems involving automated synthesis of controllers, circuits, antennas, genetic networks, and metabolic pathways. The book describes fifteen instances where GP has created an entity that either infringes or duplicates the functionality of a previously patented 20th-century invention, six instances where it has done the same with respect to post-2000 patented inventions, two instances where GP has created a patentable new invention, and thirteen other human-competitive results. The book additionally establishes: GP now delivers routine human-competitive machine intelligence GP is an automated invention machine GP can create general solutions to problems in the form of parameterized topologies GP has delivered qualitatively more substantial results in synchrony with the relentless iteration of Moore's Law
In recent years, genetic programming has attracted many researcher's attention and so became a consolidated methodology to automatically create new competitive computer programs. Concise and efficient synthesis of a variety of systems has been generated by evolutionary computations. Evolvable hardware is a growing discipline. It allows one to evolve creative and novel hardware architectures given the expected input/output behaviour. There are two kinds of evolvable hardware: extrinsic and intrinsic. The former relies on a simulated evolutionary process to evaluate the characteristics of the evolved designs while the latter uses hardware itself to do so. Usually, reconfigurable hardware such ...

EuroGP began life in Paris in 1998 as an international workshop (April 14– 15, LNCS 1391); a second workshop took place in G ̈ oteborg in 1999 (May 26– 27, LNCS 1598). Its ?rst appearance as a conference was in the year 2000 in Edinburgh (April 15–16, LNCS 1802), followed by last year’s conference held at Lake Como (April 18...
Genetic Programming Theory and Practice explores the emerging interaction between theory and practice in the cutting-edge, machine learning method of Genetic Programming (GP). The material contained in this contributed volume was developed from a workshop at the University of Michigan's Center for the Study of Complex Systems where an international group of genetic programming theorists and practitioners met to examine how GP theory informs practice and how GP practice impacts GP theory. The contributions cover the full spectrum of this relationship and are written by leading GP theorists from major universities, as well as active practitioners from leading industries and businesses. Chapters include such topics as John Koza's development of human-competitive electronic circuit designs; David Goldberg's application of "competent GA" methodology to GP; Jason Daida's discovery of a new set of factors underlying the dynamics of GP starting from applied research; and Stephen Freeland's essay on the lessons of biology for GP and the potential impact of GP on evolutionary theory.
Following 10 songs you should listen to before you die and the books on Tim Burton and Hayao Miyazaki, Jacopo Caneva’s latest work carries out a short, but in-depth study on the concepts of loneliness and nostalgia in Pink Floyd’s lyrics, from The Dark Side of the Moon to The Wall. The young writer unveils the common ground of apparently different lyrics: the memory of Syd Barrett, the genius and first leader of the group, the “crazy diamond” who gave the band the name of Pink Floyd, delivering it to myth, disappearing in anonymity after troublesome years. The book is a tribute to the legendary English rock-band and a celebration of the The Endless River, a new album of previously unreleased songs.
Since ancient times the great thinkers have had a special place in the consciences of individuals by inspiring their behavior and actions both public or private. We often try to find the right words to say something, and we wish we could say that something using the words of these greatest masters. These 106 tweets have been written to help you to find the exact words you are looking for. 106 master tweets is a collection of elegant quotes from influential thinkers and writers about the concepts of culture, existence, thought (meaning the activity of thinking), politics (i.e. the political behavior of man as social being) and society. As these texts are synthetic and decontextualized, they a...
Angela Merkel continua a dirlo a tutta Europa: “Riformatevi come noi!”.
