Coping with Stress at University

Coping with Stress at University comprehensively covers the main problems and stresses that a student may experience during their university career. Looking at university life from a variety of angles, this book equips the student to be able to deal with stressful situations ranging from exam pressure to relationship problems, from homesickness to managing finances. Quotes and case studies from previous students illustrate how problems have been dealt with in the past, and a number of coping techniques and exercises are provided to help prepare students for the transition into and through university life.

Early Georgia Wills and Settlements of Estates, Wilkes County

Early Georgia Wills and Settlements of Estates, Wilkes County

Wilkes County, Georgia, created in the year 1777, is the parent of Elbert, Oglethorpe, and Lincoln counties and parts of the counties of Greene, Hart, Madison, Taliaferro, and Warren. It comprised one-third of the population of the state in 1790. The records in this excellent little book are supplementary to Mrs. Grace G. Davidson's "Early Records of Georgia: Wilkes County" (1932, 1933) and are designed to assist the researcher in making a detailed survey of the oldest records in the Ordinary's office, once known as the Inferior Court office. The records--principally wills and settlements of estates, but also deeds of gift, inheritances, and marriage bonds--have more than ordinary genealogical significance, as they name not only principals but also beneficiaries (showing relationships), as well as witnesses and executors. The material is mostly of the period dating from the late 18th to the early 19th centuries and identifies nearly 5,000 early Georgians.

Toxic Turmoil

When an accident involves many people and when its consequences are many and serious, we speak of a disaster. Disasters have the same causal fac tors as accidents: they differ from accidents by the gravity of consequences, not by causes. The action of a single individual may result in thousands of deaths and huge financial losses. The metal fatigue of a screw may, by a chain of events, cause an explosion killing hundreds or lead to a break in a dam and a devastating flood. The fact that minor and unpredictable acts can lead to disasters is im portant because it allows us to predict that the years to come will bring with them more disasters with ever more severe consequences. The density ofhu...
