Sustainable Future for Human Security
This book focuses on the human and societal aspects of sustainable development. Three major perspectives are considered: governance and its influence on sustainable development; urban environments and their broader human and environmental impacts; and disaster management. Each of these elements is critical in considering the current and prospective development of societies towards a sustainable future in which human security is guaranteed. This 2-volume set discusses a wide range of topics concerning sustainability and human security in Asia, particularly South East Asia. The individual chapters have been contributed by authors from various fields, and due to the breadth of the material are separated into two thematic volumes.The set offers a valuable resource for professionals and researchers in the urban planning industry, postgraduates, policymakers, government officials and natural resources managers. In addition, it can be used in courses on Environmental Engineering, Agriculture and Forestry, Public Policy and Earth Science.
BISIC 2020
The Faculty of Economics and Business Bengkulu University (UNIB) Provinsi Bengkulu, Indonesia, organized the 3rd Beehive International Social Innovation Conference (BISIC) 2020 on 3rd- 4th Oct 2020 in Bengkulu, Indonesia. The number of participants who joined the zoom room was recorded at 450 participants. Participants came from 4 countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand. BISIC 2020 is implemented with the support of a stable internet network system and a zoom application. In the implementation there were several technical obstacles encountered by the participants, namely the difficulty of joining the zoom application due to the unstable internet signal. The holding of a virtual conference felt less meaningful, due to the lack of interaction between speakers and participants. The BICED 2020 committee 30 papers were presented and discussed. The papers were authored by researchers from Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesian. All papers have been scrutinized by a panel of reviewers who provide critical comments and corrections, and thereafter contributed to the improvement of the quality of the papers.
Contemporary Issues in Sustainable Development
The book will be of interest to South Asian studies departments across the globe looking at how India/South Asia are tackling sustainable development and related growth challenges. Sustainable development is an emerging interdisciplinary field with international appeal as many of these problems are trans-boundary in nature - global climate change, greenhouse gas, for example. International organizations and institutes working in this field and in India including United Nations, World Resources Institute, World Wide Fund for nature, and International Institute for Sustainable Development and others will be interested in this volume
