Football has evolved enormously since Nagendra Prasad kicked a ball 150 years ago. Unlike any other sport, football has left a socio-cultural-economic influence throughout our quest for independence and onto the journey of becoming the world's largest democracy. From Mohun Bagan's 1911 IFA Shield win igniting a nationalist movement to the Indian footballing family's newest child, Bengaluru FC envisaged in a corporate suit, A Game of Two Halves gives its readers a chance to turn back the clock and revisit the glorious days of 11 clubs that made Indian club football invaluable.
This work traces the history, achievements and prospects of football in India and among global south Asian communities.
Major sections of Muslims presently living in Barak Valley were converted from local indigenous tribes due to the spiritual influence of holy Arabian saints coming from the Middle East. Tea tribes of Assam having only 150 years of history of settlement in Assam and the subjects of Ahom kings living in Assam are considered as indigenous, while Muslims, the subjects of contemporary Koch kings and Kachari kings, living in Assam with 700/800 years of settlement history have not been considered as indigenous or Assamese Khilonjia. This book explores the roots of Hindus and Muslims living in Barak Valley. Bengali Hindus and Muslims living in Assam should look back to their history if they want to live in Assam in a dignified manner. Our past history is our strength, not weakness.

Sportswriters were critical. There were no concrete plans for the national football team. No sustained or coherent training. Unfortunately, the Indian teams were mocked. Ciric Milovan, the Yugoslavia coach, who had served as the Indian coach for a brief period in the 80s, made us believe that India can give a good account against any country in the world. Many of us remembered how Indian footballers put up a brave fight against Carlos Bilardo's probable World Cup squad of Argentina at the Eden Gardens. But why had he left the country? Utter disgrace. And, before he left the country what was his comment? It is revealed in pages of Kick off. What is India's National Football League? I have oft...
