In the far distant future, the medieval world is overrun with mulans, mutated animals that brutally kill any living species in their path. The Study of Mulan Association, or S.O.M.A., sends two-year-old Rei to Besaid village, where his life will be filled with lies and unhappiness. He is treated as an outcast not only because of his unique powers, but because S.O.M.A. ordered everyone to shun him. Rei does not learn of his powers until the day before his eighteenth birthday, when he defeats a mulan. The next day, he waits for his assignment to a guarding post, like any other eighteen year old. Instead, Rei is not assigned a post, but is told to walk through the dangerous wilds to visit S.O.M...
Backpacker brings the outdoors straight to the reader's doorstep, inspiring and enabling them to go more places and enjoy nature more often. The authority on active adventure, Backpacker is the world's first GPS-enabled magazine, and the only magazine whose editors personally test the hiking trails, camping gear, and survival tips they publish. Backpacker's Editors' Choice Awards, an industry honor recognizing design, feature and product innovation, has become the gold standard against which all other outdoor-industry awards are measured.
Can you chase away imaginary monsters with real life monsters? Dillon Ross lives in a huge mansion together with six other people. Four of them turn furry, one drinks blood regularly, and one is a former blood slave, just like him. Seven months ago, he was rescued from a fate worse than death, and he’s been doing his best to avoid people ever since. Which is hard when you have well-meaning but nosy roommates. Lee Dowell is a vampire working in a shifter bar. One day, he hears something he wasn’t meant to hear, and while his first reaction is to ignore it, he reaches out to the supernatural version of the police. It might not have been his smartest move, since he now has a target on his b...
Suicide, or murder? Newly arrived in Papua, where even the luscious vegetation conspires with the bureaucrats to bewilder her, Stella Warwick is determined to prove her husband did not take his own life.
This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-proceedings of the International Workshop on Construction and Analysis of Safe, Secure, and Interoperable Smart Devices, CASSIS 2004, held in Marseille, France in March 2004. The 13 revised full papers presented were carefully selected during two rounds of reviewing and improvement. The papers are devoted to trends in smart card research, operating systems and virtual machine technologies, secure platforms, security, application validation, verification, and formal modeling and formal methods.

Presents easy to understand proofs of same of the most difficult results about polynomials demonstrated by means of applications
This is the second edition of an influential monograph on logarithmic potentials with external fields, incorporating some of the numerous advancements made since the initial publication. As the title implies, the book expands the classical theory of logarithmic potentials to encompass scenarios involving an external field. This external field manifests as a weight function in problems dealing with energy minimization and its associated equilibria. These weighted energies arise in diverse applications such as the study of electrostatics problems, orthogonal polynomials, approximation by polynomials and rational functions, as well as tools for analyzing the asymptotic behavior of eigenvalues f...
The first edition of this well known book was noted for its clear and accessible exposition of the basic theory of Hardy spaces from the concrete point of view (in the unit circle and the half plane). The intention was to give the reader, assumed to know basic real and complex variable theory and a little functional analysis, a secure foothold in the basic theory, and to understand its applications in other areas. For this reason, emphasis is placed on methods and the ideas behind them rather than on the accumulation of as many results as possible. The second edition retains that intention, but the coverage has been extended. The author has included two appendices by V. P. Havin, on Peter Jones' interpolation formula, and Havin's own proof of the weak sequential completeness of L1/H1(0); in addition, numerous amendments, additions and corrections have been made throughout.
