Magnus Ridlon (ca.1698-1772) emigrated from Shetland (an island off the coast of Scotland) to York, Massachusetts about 1717, and married widow Susanna (Young) Austin in 1720, settling in Biddeford, Maine and later moving to Buxton, Maine. Descendants lived in New England, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Montana, California and elsewhere.
