How much of our classroom teaching in a government university can any longer afford to be critical of the world outside, the social lives we live and the social relations we reproduce on a daily basis? Isn’t that the meaning of freedom within a university – the right to freely criticise things that we do or we don’t, and to freely imagine ways of doing things better? Isn’t that the meaning of ‘academic freedom’?
