Psikodinamik yaklaşımın temelleri, Sigmund Freud'un teorileri ile atılmış olsa da, bu çerçevenin yalnızca Freud'un düşüncelerine dayanmadığı belirtmek gerekir. Gelecek perspektifleri üzerine düşünürken, bunun yanı sıra Psikanalitik Kuramların Freud sonrası evrimlerini de dikkate almalıyız. Bu bölüm, 20. yüzyılın ortalarından başlayarak günümüze kadar olan süre zarfında yaşanan gelişmeleri inceleyecektir.
