Yar Yayınları - Ufukta Beyaz Bir Yelken Ufukta Beyaz Bir Yelken, Potemkin zırhlısı ve devrim tarihinden bir yapraktır. Kitapta 1905 Devrimi’nin başlangıcı önemli bir yer alıyor. Devrim, olaylara bizzat şahit olmuş ve o sıralarda sekiz yaşında bir çocuk olan Petya’nın bakış açısından anlatılıyor. 1897 yılında doğan Valentin Petroviç Katayev, Odessalı bir lise öğretmeninin oğludur. Odessa Üniversitesini bitirerek Tarih ve Filoloji doktorası yaptı. Edebiyata, 1920 yılında, çeşitli oyun, yorum ve komik hikayeler yazmakla başladı. Katayev, en ünlü eseri olan Ufukta Beyaz Bir Yelken’i 1936 yılında yayınladı. Bu otobiyografik bir romandır. Romandaki ailenin Baçeyin olan soyadı, annesinin evlenmeden önceki soyadıyken kitapta adı geçen Petya, Valentin Katayev’in, yine kitaptaki küçük kardeşi Pavlik, SSCB’nin çok tanınmış komedi yazarlarından Yevgeni Petrov’un (tam adı Yevgeni Petroviç Katayev’dir) ta kendisidir. Yevgeni Petrov, İlya İlf ile birlikte, Valentin Katayev’in de fikir babası olduğu Oniki Sandalye ve Altın Buzağı kitaplarını yazarak ün kazandı.
