Pode-se dizer que esta obra coletiva possui dois eixos de preocupação. O primeiro deles é possibilitar reflexões a respeito da História e do seu ensino, questões que foram sendo fomentadas no desenvolvimento prático das ações de cada um dos autores no “chão da sala de aula”, isto a partir da reflexão teórico-metodológica da História e suas possibilidades. Já a segunda perspectiva vincula-se ao primeiro eixo, uma vez que se trata de trabalhos que tematizaram e refletiram a respeito do cinema e de produções fílmicas na qualidade de fontes documentais e educacionais relacionadas ao ensino e à produção de culturas históricas, as quais se tornam dimensões importantes para que seja possível colaborar com o avanço dessa área de ensino e pesquisa. Cada um dos artigos, mesmo que de forma despretensiosa, tem como função e anseio exercitar a reflexão dos profissionais da história naquilo que é importante para aquele ou aquela que pretende se aventurar em “exercícios de História” e discutir o lugar que tal conhecimento possui na sociedade.
