Joseph Abbey was born in 1796 in Dutchess County, New York. His parents were Nathaniel Abbey and Tabitha Hazen. He fought in the War of 1812. He married Mary Moss (or Knight) in 1819. They had five known children. He married Sarah Mulford in about 1839. They had six children. He died in 1869 near Hector, Schuyler County, New York. Ancestors, descendants and relatives lived mainly in England, Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York.
William Ferris (1765-1835) and two brothers (John and Thomas) immigrated from Ireland to Norfolk, Virginia. John probably stayed in Norfolk, and William and Thomas settled in Carlisle, Schoharie County, New York. William married twice (there were only children from the first marriage). Descendants and relatives of William lived in New York, Michigan, Minnesota, Florida and elsewhere. Descendants of Thomas immigrated to Ontario in Canada.
