Biology and Aquaculture of Tilapia
This book reviews up-to-date knowledge on the biology and aquaculture of tilapia, with special focus on the Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). Tilapia are a group of fish species that have become one of the most cultured worldwide, currently having a big economic impact on both developed and developing countries. The first 12 chapters of the present book cover different aspects of tilapia biology such as genetics, nutrition, osmoregulation, pathology, reproduction and development. Each chapter includes both basic knowledge and its application to tilapia culture. The last 3 chapters are devoted to cutting-edge techniques for the industry of tilapia aquaculture. Catálogo regional de laboratorios e instituciones con capacidades de diagnóstico, referencia y entrenamiento en enfermedades de organismos acuáticos en América Latina
El objetivo de este catálogo fue reunir toda la información disponible sobre laboratorios e instituciones que brindan servicios de diagnóstico de enfermedades de organismos acuáticos de notificación obligatoria a la OIE (Organización Mundial de Sanidad Animal), y capacitación en temas de bioseguridad en granjas acuícolas, en América Latina. Se identifican fortalezas en la región, siendo la principal que existe una infraestructura física y humana para el diagnóstico de enfermedades del camarón. Sin embargo, una debilidad regional importante es la capacidad limitada para diagnosticar enfermedades de peces, moluscos y anfibios. Se recomienda establecer redes de colaboración a nivel regional para intercambiar experiencias, asesoramiento y capacitación para prevenir una mayor propagación de enfermedades de notificación obligatoria a la Organización Mundial de Sanidad Animal y otras enfermedades presentes en los países de la región.
Novel Insights into the Circulation, Biogeochemistry, and Ecosystem Function of the Gulf of Mexico: A Perspective from Mexican Waters in Support of Oil Spill Preparedness
In response to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico (GoM), and given the increased activities of the offshore oil industry, an international multidisciplinary consortium - the CIGOM Consortium - was funded by Mexico's Energy Secretariat (SENER) and its National Council for Science and Technology (CONACyT). Spanning 2015-2022, CIGOM's goals were to establish an environmental baseline to characterize the southern GOM’s natural variability and contribute to the understanding of ecosystem function, use cutting-edge technologies to observe the ocean, couple physical circulation and biogeochemical models to gain understating of oceanographic processes, generate oil spill scenarios using model ensembles and statistical techniques and conducting vulnerability assessments. Over 300 researchers participated in the CIGOM consortium's efforts.

Ecology of the Acanthocephala
Acanthocephalans, or spiny-headed worms, are endoparasites found in almost all marine, freshwater and terrestrial systems. They infect a huge range of definitive and intermediate hosts during their life cycles, including both vertebrates and arthropods.
