From Furs to Farms

This original study tells the story of the Illinois Country, a collection of French villages that straddled the Mississippi River for nearly a century before it was divided by the treaties that ended the Seven Years' War in the early 1760s. Spain acquired the territory on the west side of the river and Great Britain the territory on the east. After the 1783 Treaty of Paris and the 1803 Louisiana Purchase, the entire region was controlled by the United States, and the white inhabitants were transformed from subjects to citizens. By 1825, Indian claims to the land that had become the states of Illinois and Missouri were nearly all extinguished, and most of the Indians had moved west. John Reda...

This novel tells the story of Aiden Chapman, a young man who returns from Vietnam, having survived a tragic ambush that resulted in the loss of many close friends. After recovering from his wounds, he decides to leave the Marine Corps and return home, hoping to escape the images that continuously haunt him. Shortly after the homecoming, he meets a young woman who is ironically connected to the ambush that nearly took his life. Thus begins their story, a story of heartache, hope, and healing. This novel is set in 1967, South Carolina. Like many Southern novels, The Long Road Home embraces what is wonderful about the region; faith, family, loyalty, and tradition. This novel is different from most commercial mainstream stories in several ways. First, is the ironic tragedy that unites the characters. Second, is the stylistic blend of humor, romance, and suspense. Most important, is the fatal climax that puts love and friendship to the ultimate test.

Treasure River

The Red River story has remained a best kept secret, largely in part due to President Jefferson's embarrassment over the 1806 Freeman-Custis Expedition's failure at the hands of the Spanish; brought about by the, "Aaron Burr/Wilkinson conspiracy." Every river has a story that can only be told by someone that knows her history and her heart. Red River was always "Treasure River." She just needed Wildwood Dean to tell her story. Allen Rich, North Texas e-News. Treasure River, by Wildwood Dean, meanders along the Red River of the early 19th century with tales of trappers, whiskey dealers and treasure hunters.
