Yates Family
William Yates was born on 30 August 1772, probably in Scotland and died on 30 September 1868. He came to America as a young boy and worked for a farmer in or near Portsmouth, New Hampshire and is found in Minot, Maine at age 18 or 19. He married Martha Morgan in May 1794 in Minot. Martha, daughter of Samuel and Judith Morgan, was born on 2 November 1777 in Poland, Maine. She died on 10 March 1869. Both William and Martha are buried in Greenwood, Maine. Ancestors and descendants have resided in Wales, England, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and elsewhere.
