The Rising Complexity of European Law
The volume presents seven contributions which analyse two different progressive complex developments of European law: the legal challenges of adherence to the internal market without membership in the European Union in a comparative view of Norway (EEA) and Switzerland ("Bilateral Agreements"), and the legal answers to the financial and/or budgetary crisis and challenges in Europe. The common denominator of both subjects is the raising complexity of European law.--
Models of Religious Freedom
In this thesis, the US, Swiss, and Syrian models of religious freedom are illustrated in legal settings. The Analytical Representation comprises more than statements of positive law or mechanical comparison. Each chapter is introduced by thought-forms predominant in the respective legal culture. The objective of the Methodological Representation is to investigate the logic and legitimate pattern by which the US and Swiss judiciary come to the conclusion that an alleged interference is covered under the right to religious freedom. The last dimension, which is the Eclectic Representation, pursues a dual aim. Firstly, the idea is to develop an actual guideline of religious freedom rules, and secondly, to evaluate how much religious freedom is internalized in the US, Swiss, and Syrian legal systems. Switzerland’s Differentiated European Integration
This book analyses Switzerland’s European policies using the concept of differentiated European integration, providing a new and original perspective on the country. This analytical approach focuses on the similarities between Switzerland's EU policies and the integration of EU member states. The latter have often been the focus of research as Switzerland is the last Western European country not to have become a member of the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA). The book claims that Switzerland’s position on the European integration map is different in terms of degree from many EU member states, but not different in kind. The cornerstone of the book is new empirical data quantitatively measuring Switzerland’s differentiated integration during the period 1990 – 2010. The data rely on the sectoral agreements Switzerland concluded with the EU and the voluntary incorporation of EU law into domestic legislation. The book shows, among other findings, that over time Swiss European policies have begun to resemble integration policies and that the more they did so, the more dynamically they evolved.

Sports Investigations Law and the ECHR
This book focuses on the analysis of coercive measures that sports organisations are permitted to use as part of their internal sports investigation proceedings to investigate sports rule violations. The legality of such coercive measures is measured against the legal regime of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). The book examines the important issue of the applicability of the ECHR to private sports organisations, which is currently widely debated in the field of sports law. The ECHR is hereby used as the analytical framework, which should also be a source of inspiration for jurisdictions outside the scope of application of the ECHR. The book further explores if and to what extent sports organisations and law enforcement agencies may exchange intelligence in support of both internal sports investigation proceedings and criminal investigations.
