Mary Baker Eddy was the founder of the Christian Scientist denomination. She was born at Bow, near Concord, N. H. She founded the first Christian Science Church at Boston in 1879, and opened the Massachusetts Metaphysical College there in 1881. She frequently appeared upon the lecture platform, and wrote much for the Christian Science publications, but is most widely known as the author of Science and Health, with Key to the Scriptures.
