Gastritis

The isolation and identification of Helicobacter pylori as the cause of gastrointestinal diseases had major implications for public health and led to curative treatments that reduced suffering from many acute and chronic conditions. Although alternative therapies have been used to improve eradication, current treatments still rely on a combination of antimicrobial agents often associated with antisecretory agents, such as proton pump inhibitors. In this book there is a comprehensive overview by contributors on H. pylori infection in diverse areas, including a general overview of H. pylori infection, and discussions about the principal therapeutic regimens of bacterium eradication, considering antimicrobial resistance. Also, certain aspects of autoimmune gastritis, an important condition that has been related to microorganism infection, is also considered. H. pylori is clearly a very interesting bacterium and great studies and discussions about all its aspects are welcomed by the medical and scientific communities.

2013 6th International Conference on BioMedical Engineering and Informatics (BMEI 2013)

SPBEI 2013 aims to be an excellent platform to facilitate international exchange of state-ofthe- art research and practice in image, video, and signal processing, biomedical engineering, informatics, and their cross-intersection to catalyze innovative research ideas and to dissimilate new scientific discoveries. The nature of the research demands collaboration in medicine, biology, physics, engineering, computer science, and statistics; and SPBEI attempts to expedite and strengthen the exploration and systemization of interdisciplinary knowledge. This year, the conference received a large number of submissions around the globe, and all papers have been rigorously reviewed by a large number of peer reviewers who have spent tremendous amount of time and effort on the evaluations, with each paper receiving three to six reviews. We would like to thank all those who submitted papers for considerations, and we extend our sincere gratitude to all those who devoted their time and effort professionally to ensuring the high standards of the technical program, including the authors, committee members, peer reviewers, and session chairs.

Ontogenetic development of pompano Trachinotus ovatus

This book highlights the ontogenetic development of larval T. ovatus, provides a comprehensive overview of larval rearing of this species. It focuses on the physiological and molecular changes during the early ontogeny of T. ovatus and hatchery and nursery practices. The first seven chapters update the recent development in the hatchery technology in T. ovatus, including feed and feeding, environmental manipulation, hatchery management, and fingerlings in transportation. Chapter eight and onwards decode the possible molecular mechanisms underlying fish development and response to environmental changes and discuss the transcription and expressions of growth and development-related genes in T. ovatus. The last chapters discuss the functional feed additives to the diet and antibiotic usage of T. ovatus juveniles. This book is a valuable resource for researchers, practitioners and students in the aquaculture industry and related fields.
