Sebastian Görg introduces social workflows as a new application domain for Process-Aware Information Systems and draws the design of a social workflow platform that enables private individuals to make use of workflow technology in their everyday lives. Whenever a group of persons works together on a challenging or multifaceted task, a social workflow begins. In textual form, such social workflows are already described and shared in various Internet communities which provide experiential knowledge for achieving different goals, in areas like home repair, vacation trips and computer troubleshooting. The envisioned platform enables its users to construct social workflows according to their specific needs, to share them with a community and to keep track of the execution.
This research monograph describes the integration of analogical and case-based reasoning into general problem solving and planning as a method of speedup learning. The method, based on derivational analogy, has been fully implemented in PRODIGY/ANALOGY and proven in practice to be amenable to scaling up, both in terms of domain and problem complexity. In this work, the strategy-level learning process is cast for the first time as the automation of the complete cycle of construction, storing, retrieving, and flexibly reusing problem solving experience. The algorithms involved are presented in detail and numerous examples are given. Thus the book addresses researchers as well as practitioners.

Grid resource management is the process of identifying requirements, matching resources to applications, allocating those resources, and scheduling and monitoring Grid resources over time in order to run Grid applications as efficiently as possible. While Grids have become almost commonplace, the use of good Grid resource management tools is far from ubiquitous because of the many open issues of the field, including the multiple layers of schedulers, the lack of control over resources, the fact that resources are shared, and that users and administrators have conflicting performance goals.
