Efektem dyskusji naukowej, którą zapoczątkowały studia i rozprawy zamieszczone w książce Sacrum w mieście – średniowiecze i wczesna epoka nowożytna. Wymiar religijny, kulturalny i społeczny, jest kolejny zbiór prac dotyczących epoki nowożytnej i czasów współczesnych. Podobnie jak w pierwszym tomie, dają się tu również zauważyć trzy główne nurty, które stały się inspiracją dla autorów niniejszych prac: są to aspekty religijne, kulturalne i społeczne.
