This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 15th Mexican Conference on Pattern Recognition, MCPR 2023, held in Tepic, Mexico, during June 21–24, 2023. About Trees considers our relationship with language, landscape, perception, and memory in the Anthropocene. The book includes texts and artwork by a stellar line up of contributors including Jorge Luis Borges, Andrea Bowers, Ursula K. Le Guin, Ada Lovelace and dozens of others. Holten was artist in residence at Buro BDP. While working on the book she created an alphabet and used it to make a new typeface called Trees.
