Çalışmanın hacminden de görüleceği üzere bir yüksek lisans tezi olarak hayli emek isteyen bir çalışma ortaya çıktı . Yüksek Lisans tezi olarak uzun seneler kütüphanelerdeki raflarda konuyla ilgilenen araştırmacıların hizmetine sunuldu . Son senelerde her alanda olduğu gibi bu tür çalışmalar da dijital olarak çeşitli mecralarda araştırmacıların hizmetine sunulmaktadır . Bu da akademik çalışmaların desteklenmesi adına sevindirici bir gelişmedir . Bu kapsamda çalışmamızla ilgili olarak da böyle bir düşünce ortaya çıkmış ve dijital olarak araştırmacıların hizmetine sunulmuştur . This book is about domestic politics following the Revolution of 1908 in Turkey. Although seemingly straightforward in its telling of events from the opening of the Parliament in alte 1908 to the re-capture of constitutional government in early 1913, this book is built upon a premise that is fundamentally different from previous studies. A Social History of Ottoman Istanbul
Using a wealth of contemporary Ottoman sources, this book recreates the social history of Istanbul, a huge, cosmopolitan metropolis and imperial capital of the Ottoman Empire. Seat of the Sultan and an opulent international emporium, Istanbul was also a city of violence shaken regularly by natural disasters and by the turmoil of sultanic politics and violent revolt. Its inhabitants, entertained by imperial festivities and cared for by the great pious foundations which touched every aspect of their lives, also amused themselves in the numerous pleasure gardens and the many public baths of the city. While the book is focused on Istanbul, it presents a broad picture of Ottoman society, how it was structured and how it developed and transformed across four centuries. As such, the book offers an exciting alternative to the more traditional histories of the Ottoman Empire.

Yet despite its recognition as a shared language across the Islamic world and beyond, its scope, impact, and mechanisms remain underexplored. A world historical inquiry into pre-modern cosmopolitanism, The Persianate World traces the reach and limits of Persian as a Eurasian language in a comprehensive survey of its geographical, literary, and social frontiers. From Siberia to Southeast Asia, and between London and Beijing, this book shows how Persian gained, maintained, and finally surrendered its status to imperial and vernacular competitors. Fourteen essays trace Persian’s interactions with Bengali, Chinese, Turkic, Punjabi, and other languages to identify the forces that extended “Persographia,” the domain of written Persian. Spanning the ages expansion and contraction, The Persianate World offers a critical survey of both the supports and constraints of one of history’s key languages of global exchange.
