First Turkish Reader for Beginners
There are simple and funny Turkish texts for easy reading. The book consists of Beginner and Elementary courses with parallel Turkish-English texts. The author maintains learners' motivation by funny stories about real life situations such as meeting people, studying, job searches, working etc. The ALARM Method (Approved Learning Automatic Remembering Method) utilize natural human ability to remember words used in texts repeatedly and systematically. The author composed each sentence using only words explained in previous chapters. The second and the following chapters of the Beginner course have only about thirty new words each. The book is equipped with the audio tracks. Current Debates in Tourism & Development Studies
The book entitled “Current Debates In Tourism & Development Studies” includes 10 chapters written by researchers in the field of tourism and development. It is divided into four themes, each theme exploring current tourism and development issues that are of critical importance. The key themes of the book concern transforming tourism-resident perception (theme 1), alternative tourism (theme 2), event tourism and destination image (theme 3), and development studies (theme 4). The book has following specific objectives: (a) to identify and analyze the current debates of tourism; (b) to examine current key tourism trends, issues and challenges; (c) to provide compherensive review of tourism and development over the years; (d) to implement rural development, behavioral economics and demographic divident and economic growth issues. It is our strong believe that these chapters will contribute to the understanding of current debates in tourism and development. Furthermore, each chapter in the book will make a significant platform for both tourism industry and academia.

This book is written as an outcome of the sixth congress of CUDES (Current Debates in Social Sciences). This volume is broken down into three parts, which fits logically into the subjects of the chapters. The parts are composed of several defining papers that are basically in the area of Labour Economics, Gender and Demography Studies. The articles in this volume draw attention to work conditions of employees specifically regarding women, extreme experiences of some minorities, and gender issues in art and other social strata. The opinions in each articles reflect its authors’ own thoughts.
Current Debates in Gender & Cultural Studies
Composed of two parts, this book involved research on gender in the first part while the second part focused on research on culture. In the studies on different themes and problems, unique viewpoints were desired to be developed. Different faces of gender inequality were investigated and solutions were suggested. Moreover, various dimensions of cultural phase were examined. The book aimed at contributing to these two fields specifically and current debates in social sciences in general.

The Seed and the Soil
How do the metaphors we use to describe procreation affect our view of the relative worth of each gender? Carol Delaney discloses the powerful meanings condensed in the seemingly innocent images of "seed" and "soil." Drawing on her work in a small Turkish village of Sunni Muslims, she shows us that the images are categorically different, hierarchically ordered, and unequally valued. The ways in which the creation of a child is understood in Turkey furnish a key to understanding a whole range of Turkish attitudes toward sexuality and gender, honor and shame, authority and submission, time and space, inside and outside, open and closed. Moreover, the symbols and meanings by which they represent procreation provide the means for understanding relationships between such seemingly disparate elements as the body, family, house, village, nation, this-world and other-world. Delaney points out that these symbols do not embellish reality; they provide the key to a particular conception of it, a conception that gives coherence to social life. The patterns revealed are not distinctly Turkish; they also comment on some of our own deeply-held assumptions and values about procreation.
