AJ's grandfather has always been the one to keep his unusual family together, so when he dies things start to unravel at the edges. AJ is worried about his parents but they don't really seem to notice. In order to deal with his grief and to keep his anxiety at bay, AJ does what he and his grandfather did best: running. Round and round the Olympic Park, aiming for the cross country trials. Running to escape, AJ only seems to be heading ever closer to disaster. Winner of the Student Vote, UKLA Book Award 2017 Winner of the Warwickshire Schools Book Award 2017 Shortlisted for the Branford Boase Award 2017 Nominated for the 2017 CILIP Carnegie Medal I've put this story together from the diaries I kept when Zac and I were children. I wrote them because I felt we were almost invisible and I wanted to make sure our story was told, and also in the hope that life would get better for the small unloved girl that was me, and my even smaller unloved brother. And if life didn't get better or at least more interesting I was going to make it up - to put in witches and castles and rides in fast cars. But I didn't need to. Life got exciting all by itself... It's ...

Iris's grandmother, Mimi, has started to put jam on her scrambled eggs and tie blue ribbons around her fingers to remind her of stuff. Her house, always full of things, is becoming harder and harder to navigate, and when Iris goes to stay, she feels as if a whole life is becoming muddled up. As her grandmother's memory fades, a mystery is uncovered. Who is Coral, and what happened to her? A moving exploration of memory and stories, told through the eyes of a grandchild losing a beloved grandparent to dementia. Beautifully, engagingly told, this is an ultimately hopeful book for our time.

Ways for Your Child to Learn through Play 100 Fun Activities for Young Children

I hope that my book is used as a sort of ‘play recipe book’, which you can get down from the shelf, prop up on your kitchen table and look through with your child to decide what you’re going to do today. As you would with recipes, I’d also like you to experiment with it. If one of the activities doesn’t quite suit your child, amend it, just like you would if there’s an ingredient in a cake recipe that your child dislikes or you haven’t got in your cupboard. I’ve added suggestions for ways you can extend and adapt each activity but feel empowered that you are the expert on your child, and you will know the best way to make these activities work for your family. It may be that your child has a visual impairment, for example, and the activity is to look for coloured objects, so you could choose to adapt it to find items of different textures instead. Or if your child has colour-blindness, for this activity you could choose the colours that they can differentiate between.

Using the example of Eichstatt, this book challenges current witchcraft historiography by arguing that the gender of the witch-suspect was a product of the interrogation process and that the stable communities affected by persecution did not collude in its escalation.
