After Psychosis

This book focuses on the symptoms of psychosis. This medical issue is oftentimes present in the "big three" of severe mental illnesses. After Psychosis addresses common misconceptions and common complaints from sufferers, and it delves into biblical solutions for their accompanying spiritual struggles. It is meant to come alongside both those suffering and those who are indirectly affected by these illnesses. Because it is a book focused on the spiritual struggles of those suffering, its primary content centers on the Bible and how it addresses such issues as not believing the best about others, suspicion, rash judgement, pride, and more. However, medication and a medical exam are a required...

Schizophrenia, Mental Illness, and Pastoral Care

Mental illness and schizophrenia are as controversial and somewhat mysterious as the nature of the human brain itself. Introduction to Biblical Hebrew

This book is designed to cover one year's work in Hebrew leading up to a full understanding of the language. It has been used by the author with his students for many years and the published text is the result of testing and refining over these years.Every attempt has been made to make the grammar clear and simple. For example, all Hebrew words are transliterated, as well as being given in the original for the first three-quarters of the book. The grammatical discussion is made as unsophisticated as possible for it is the author's intention that this book should also be of use to those who study Hebrew without a teacher.

A rogue officer turns privateer in this thrilling historical adventure. 1783: Officer Alan Lewrie becomes His Majesty’s secret agent. Fresh from war in the Americas, Lewrie finds London a pure pleasure. Then, at Plymouth, he boards the trading ship Telesto to find out why merchantmen are disappearing in the East Indies. Between the pungent shores of Calcutta and teaming Canton, Lewrie discovers a young French captain, backed by an armada of pirates, on a plundering rampage. While treaties tie the navy's hands, a King's privateer is free to plunge into the fire and blood of a dirty war in the South China Sea. The King’s Privateer is perfect for fans of Bernard Cornwell and Patrick O’Brian.

Studies in Semitic Vocalisation and Reading Traditions

This volume brings together papers relating to the pronunciation of Semitic languages and the representation of their pronunciation in written form. The papers focus on sources representative of a period that stretches from late antiquity until the Middle Ages. A large proportion of them concern reading traditions of Biblical Hebrew, especially the vocalisation notation systems used to represent them. Also discussed are orthography and the written representation of prosody. Beyond Biblical Hebrew, there are studies concerning Punic, Biblical Aramaic, Syriac, and Arabic, as well as post-biblical traditions of Hebrew such as piyyuṭ and medieval Hebrew poetry. There were many parallels and interactions between these various language traditions and the volume demonstrates that important insights can be gained from such a wide range of perspectives across different historical periods.
