History of the Gerberich Family in America (1613-1925)
Ancestry is traced to Hans Gerberich (1613-1681) of Altfled bei Marktheidenfeld, Germany. Two grandsons, Hans and Michael, immigrated to Pennsylvania in 1751. Hans had married Christine Schuch in 1727. Descendants lived in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Ohio, New York, Illinois, Michigan, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, California and elsewhere.

The Gates family originated in Essex, England. William E. Gates (1819- 1897) was born in England and immigrated to America. He married Elizabeth Mitchel in New York in 1840 and they became the parents of seven children, one of whom was Thomas Judson Gates (1847-1910). Thomas married Sarah Elizabeth Funk (1860-1906) in 1877 and they settled in Funks Grove, Illinois where they became the parents of seven children. One their children was William Evelyn Gates (1883-1956) who married Clara Esther Burkhart (1895-1981) in 1912. They were the parents of nine children. Descendants live in Illinois and other parts of the United States.
Backenstoss Family Association of America
The Backenstoss family originated in the Swiss canton of Thurgan. The earliest known ancestor to immigrate to America was Hans Ulrich Backenstoss (1694-1753). He and his family settled in Pennsylvania. Numerous descendants live throughout the United States.
