Alberta's Agriculture Growth Strategy
This document presents a strategy for the Alberta agricultural sector that envisions a $20 billion value added industry and a $10 billion primary industry by the year 2010. It first reviews the state of the industry and overarching issues impacting growth such as government policy, labour supply, investment, and infrastructure. It then identifies specific sectors & growth scenarios and the funding required to support the needed investment & activities. Appendix A contains details on key growth strategies for five sectors (beef, pork, processed food, non-food or industrial products, functional foods & natural health products), each providing a description of the sector & the state of the industry, the 2010 growth scenario, the value of the 2010 opportunities, key drivers of growth, specific strategies to achieve growth, and a timeline of milestones. The remaining appendix presents growth scenarios & key drivers of growth for other sectors.
