Low and middle income countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America bear a significant proportion of the global burden of chronic non-communicable diseases. This book synthesizes evidence across countries that share similar socio-economic, developmental and public health profiles, including rapid urbanization, globalization and poverty. Providing insights on successful and sustainable interventions and policies, it shows how to slow and reverse the rising burden of chronic diseases in resource-poor settings.

Extending healthy ageing across the life course

This was the second virtual meeting to initiate WHO’s new area of work on connecting healthy development and healthy ageing throughout the life course, following the first in June 2022. The meeting put into practice the approach to collaboration that will draw on everyone’s expertise and interest. Over 120 participants joined from all six WHO regions. Participants included persons from life course centres, experts in individual life stages – including children, adolescents, adults and older adults – members of the Consortium on Metrics and Evidence for Healthy Ageing (CMEHA) – including academics, civil society representatives and policy-makers – as well as staff from WHO and other international agencies.

Beyond the decade of healthy ageing

The related text for the publications page on the WHO website will be as follows: WHO’s comprehensive response to population ageing and health is to promote healthy ageing over the life course. The new area of work led by the Department of Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health and Ageing (MCA), within its cross-cutting work on healthy trajectories and concentrating on connecting healthy development and healthy ageing across the life course, was launched in the kick-off meeting on 9-10 June 2022. The virtual meeting included 30 speakers from a range of national and international perspectives and was attended by wide range of participants from all six WHO regions. Key issues and questions for research were identified for each life stage, and across life stages, on ways to operationalize life course interventions and measure their impact. Multisectoral actions required to optimize functional ability and well-being across the life course was emphasized. Finally, the meeting initiated the development of a collaborative network of life course centers worldwide interested to work together.

Introduction to Global Health Promotion

Introduction to Global Health Promotion addresses a breadth and depth of public health topics that students and emerging professionals in the field must understand as the world's burden of disease changes with non-communicable diseases on the rise in low- and middle-income countries as their middle class populations grow. Now more than ever, we need to provide health advocacy and intervention to prevent, predict, and address emerging global health issues. This new text from the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) prepares readers with thorough and thoughtful chapters on global health promotion theories, best practices, and perspectives on the future of the field, from the individual ...

Big Data Analytics in Oncology with R serves the analytical approaches for big data analysis. There is huge progressed in advanced computation with R. But there are several technical challenges faced to work with big data. These challenges are with computational aspect and work with fastest way to get computational results. Clinical decision through genomic information and survival outcomes are now unavoidable in cutting-edge oncology research. This book is intended to provide a comprehensive text to work with some recent development in the area. Features: Covers gene expression data analysis using R and survival analysis using R Includes bayesian in survival-gene expression analysis Discusses competing-gene expression analysis using R Covers Bayesian on survival with omics data This book is aimed primarily at graduates and researchers studying survival analysis or statistical methods in genetics.

The Indoctrinated Brain

Global War on the Human Brain Throughout the world, mental capacity is declining, especially among young people, while depression rates are rising dramatically. Meanwhile, one in forty men and women suffers from Alzheimer's, and the age of onset is falling rapidly. But the causes are not being eliminated, quite the opposite. Can this just be coincidence? The Indoctrinated Brain introduces a largely unknown, powerful neurobiological mechanism whose externally induced dysfunction underlies these catastrophic developments. Michael Nehls, medical doctor and internationally renowned molecular geneticist, lays out a shattering chain of circumstantial evidence indicating that behind these numerous ...
