Hanover County Chancery Wills and Notes
Hanover County, Virginia was erected from New Kent in 1720, which itself had been formed from York County in 1654. (In 1742 Hanover lost that portion now embraced by Louisa County.) Most of the records of the Hanover County Court were destroyed at the end of the Civil War, which is why those that did survive, the subject of this book, are of the utmost importance. Confining itself to Chancery Wills and Notes, this work consists of copies or abstracts of bills and petitions, wills and deeds, powers of attorney, administrators' accounts, depositions, receipts, and letters, bearing reference, in total, to some 7,000 persons. In the treatment and presentation of the Notes the object was to extract every detail of genealogical, biographical, and historical significance, and to arrange such matter alphabetically and chronologically in relation to families. In the treatment of the wills the aim was to provide either a comprehensive abridgement or an authentic verbatim copy. Possessing a complete name index, this is the starting point for genealogical research in Hanover County.
Pierre Gibert, French Huguenot, His Background and Descendants
Pierre Gibert (ca. 1755-1815) was born in Lunes, Languedoc, France, and immigrated (with his uncle's family) in 1770 to Westminster, England. In 1772 he immigrated to Charleston, South Carolina and married Elizabeth Bienaime in 1775. He fought in the American Revolution. Includes Cunningham, Evans, Hillhouse, Kennedy and related families.
The British Television Pilot Episodes Research Guide 1936-2015
A new idea can become an expensive flop for TV executives. So from the earliest days of television, the concept of a pilot episode seemed like a good idea. Trying out new actors; new situations and new concepts before making a series was good economical sense. It was also tax deductible. Sometimes these pilots were shown on television; sometimes they were so awful they were hidden from sight in archives; and sometimes they were excellent one-offs, but a series seemed elusive and never materialised. Chris Perry has always been fascinated by the pilot episode. So many pilots are made annually, but never seen by audiences. Only a handful appear on screen. It's a hidden world of comedy, variety, drama and factual programming.
