Poder social : instituciones de participación ciudadana en Colombia, Brasil, Bolivia, Venezuela y Cuba
En este estudio presentamos experiencias reales de democracia participativa en el funcionamiento de las instituciones del Estado, lo público-social, para el diseño, control y ejecución de políticas públicas. Son espacios de cogobierno: a) contraloría social sobre el desempeño de la administración pública y entidades privadas de servicio público (Colombia y Bolivia); b) consejos de políticas públicas sectoriales o temáticas desde los municipios, estados y federación (Brasil); c) la gestión directa de los asuntos públicos locales (Concejos Comunales en Venezuela) y la cogestión de los asuntos locales en los tres niveles de gobierno (Comités de Defensa de la Revolución en Cuba). Egipto contemporáneo
Esta obra se basa en fuentes diversas, a lo que se aúna la perspectiva y visión del autor sobre el Egipto de hoy. En esta revisión, general y breve, se parte de un hecho trascendente en la vida cotidiana de ese país en su historia reciente: la gran "Rebelión por la Vida" de enero de 1977, estallido popular provocado por el corte a los subsidios para el consumo de alimentos básicos en los grandes sectores populares del país. Se estudian otros acontecimientos similares que se presentaron en etapas posteriores y que muestran las formas de respuesta popular, fuerza que constituye un elemento de cambio social fundamental en ese país árabe. Asimismo, se ofrece un resumen de algunos aspectos fundamentales tales como, la economía, el desarrollo social y político, para mostrar el papel de la nación egipcia en el mundo árabe e islámico actual.
