A thorough understanding of pathogenic microorganisms and their interactions with host organisms is crucial to prevent infectious threats due to the fact that Pathogen-Host Interactions (PHIs) have critical roles in initiating and sustaining infections. Therefore, the analysis of infection mechanisms through PHIs is indispensable to identify diagnostic biomarkers and next-generation drug targets and then to develop strategic novel solutions against drug-resistance and for personalized therapy. Traditional approaches are limited in capturing mechanisms of infection since they investigate hosts or pathogens individually. On the other hand, the systems biology approach focuses on the whole PHI ...
Given recent global crises, the imperative to preserve and analyze online content has never been more vital to enhancing our comprehension of contemporary changes. This book, the outcome of the 5th international RESAW conference that convened experts from fifty disciplines across seventeen countries in Marseille in June 2023, tackles the multifaceted challenges of web archiving. It underscores the dual roles of web archiving, as cultural heritage and as essential source material for researchers delving into contemporary events and the evolution of digital culture. Through twenty chapters, it explores the development of web archiving and examines how technical, cultural, geopolitical, societal, and environmental shifts impact its conception, study, and dissemination.

The series of ISCIS (International Symposium on Computer and Information Sciences) symposia have been held each year since 1986, mostly in Turkey and occasionally abroad. It is the main computer science and engineering meeting organized by Turkish academics and was founded by Erol Gelenbe. Each year ISCIS attracts a signi?cant number of international participants from all over the world. The 19th ISCIS was organized by Bilkent University, Department of Computer Engineering, and was held in Kemer-Antalya, Turkey during 27–29 October 2004. For ISCIS 2004, a total of 335 papers went through the review process and a large number of high-quality papers competed for acceptance. This volume of th...
Artificial Intelligence continues to be one of the most exciting and fast-developing fields of computer science. This book presents the 177 long papers and 123 short papers accepted for ECAI 2016, the latest edition of the biennial European Conference on Artificial Intelligence, Europe’s premier venue for presenting scientific results in AI. The conference was held in The Hague, the Netherlands, from August 29 to September 2, 2016. ECAI 2016 also incorporated the conference on Prestigious Applications of Intelligent Systems (PAIS) 2016, and the Starting AI Researcher Symposium (STAIRS). The papers from PAIS are included in this volume; the papers from STAIRS are published in a separate volume in the Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and Applications (FAIA) series. Organized by the European Association for Artificial Intelligence (EurAI) and the Benelux Association for Artificial Intelligence (BNVKI), the ECAI conference provides an opportunity for researchers to present and hear about the very best research in contemporary AI. This proceedings will be of interest to all those seeking an overview of the very latest innovations and developments in this field.
The two volume set LNAI 8481 and 8482 constitutes the refereed conference proceedings of the 27th International Conference on Industrial, Engineering and Other Applications of Applied Intelligent Systems, IEA/AIE 2014, held in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in June 2014. The total of 106 papers selected for the proceedings were carefully reviewed and selected from various submissions. The papers deal with a wide range of topics from applications of applied intelligent systems to solve real-life problems in all areas including engineering, science, industry, automation and robotics, business and finance, medicine and biomedicine, bioinformatics, cyberspace and human-machine interaction.
Periodontitis is an infection-induced inflammatory disease of the tooth supporting tissues. Treatment of periodontal diseases and regeneration of the effected tissues can be possible only in the early diagnosis of the disease. If left undiagnosed or untreated, periodontitis leads to irreversible soft and hard tissue destruction and finally to tooth loss. Saliva is known to contain inflammatory mediators, host tissue and cell degradation products as well as microbial metabolites and enzymes, reflecting the health status of the oral cavity. In this topic, in collaboration with the well-known scientists working on the field of salivary diagnostics, we demonstrate evidence on monitoring periodontitis by salivary analysis.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 27th Annual International Conference on Research in Computational Molecular Biology, RECOMB 2023, held in Istanbul, Turkey, during April 16–19, 2023. The 11 regular and 33 short papers presented in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 188 submissions. The papers report on original research in all areas of computational molecular biology and bioinformatics.
Volume 1 of Computational Approaches in Bioengineering—Computational Approaches in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics—explores many significant topics of biomedical engineering and bioinformatics in an easily understandable format. It explores recent developments and applications in bioinformatics, biomechanics, artificial intelligence (AI), signal processing, wearable sensors, biomaterials, cell biology, synthetic biology, biostatistics, prosthetics, big data, and algorithms. From applications of biomaterials in advanced drug delivery systems to the role of big data, AI, and machine learning in disease diagnosis and treatment, the book will help readers understand how these technologies a...
This 4-volumes set constitutes the proceedings of the ICPR 2022 Workshops of the 26th International Conference on Pattern Recognition Workshops, ICPR 2022, Montreal, QC, Canada, August 2023.
