In difesa dell’egoismo
Questo è un elogio dell’egoismo. Perché squarcia il velo di ipocrisia che impedisce di apprezzare il motore che ha aumentato il benessere della civiltà, che senza egoismo non sarebbe nata e non potrebbe sopravvivere. Perché, osservando quali interessi determinano i comportamenti, emerge che il contrario di egoismo non è altruismo, ma autolesionismo. Perché, se in una società il risultato per il singolo non è superiore a quello che avrebbe ottenuto da solo, o si ha uno sfruttamento ingiustificato delle risorse altrui oppure la società è in perdita e non ha nessuna ragione di esistere. Perché l’altruismo è il prodotto dell’egoismo e dell’intelligenza. Perché ognuno sia fiero e libero di essere egoista, consapevole che solo così potrà essere felice perché utile a se stesso e agli altri.
