Barbara Brown is often referred to as a "prayer warrior" or a "woman of prayer". She was often asked about how she learned to pray and a number of people challenged her to write a book about her exciting prayer life. This book seeks to piece together her prayer journey. Follow her journey from childhood to Mariposa Prayer House. It began by having talks with God when she was in primary school. Barbara's interest in and understanding of prayer increased in high school and college years though involvement in a peer age, church youth group and Para church ministries. Her commitment to prayer flourished and became her main focus for the 39 years she was a Campus Staff Member with Inter Varsity Christian Fellowship. The prayer to God, made in her early twenty's, to become an intercessor was answered in more ways than she could have imagined. Barbara's prayer life developed through exposure to various styles of prayer in diverse ethnic, geographic and ministry settings. After retirement from IVCF the vision of having a prayer house was realized -her first owned home, is dedicated as the Mariposa Prayer House.

When God is Silent

An enduring classic from award-winning writer Barbara Brown Taylor, exploring how we communicate with a God who often seems silent. Arguing persuasively for simplicity and economy when speaking of God, it reflects on the eloquence of Jesus’ silences and how we can find ways of bringing tired, old language about God back to life.
