A necessidade de consolidar um método mais científico, permitiu à História se transformar em ciência. Embora as principais características historiográficas que marcam o método na contemporaneidade tenham se consolidado no período de tempo citado anteriormente, suas características ainda continuam bastante presentes no século XXI.
