SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE
Organic farming plays a very important role in the modern society. Organic farming practice resulted in sustainability sustainable agriculture integrates three main goals. They are environmental health, commercially profitability and social-economic equity. A variety of philosophies, policies and practices have contributed to these goals. People in many different capacities from farmers to consumers have shared this vision and contributed to it. The pursuit of sustainable agriculture in EU free trade agreements
This book explores the extent to which EU Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) pursue sustainable agriculture in third country parties. It contends that this should be part of a duty for the EU enshrined in the Treaties to promote its fundamental values in its external action. It suggests that the extent to which this occurs in practice, may be reviewed judicially by the Court of Justice of the European Union. Against this background, selected agreements concluded by the EU with developed and developing countries (Canada, South Korea, Ukraine, Chile, SADC countries and Vietnam) are taken as case studies. Impact of subsidized food grains on the food security of rural households: an economic analysis
The present study was undertaken with an overall objective of assessment of food consumption pattern, calorie and nutrient derivation. In Tumakuru district of Karnataka state, primary data were collected from 120 rural households. The rural households inadequately consumed proteins, milk and milk products. In terms of vegetables, fruits and egg and meat consumption, they were severely inadequate. Among the nutrients intake, the households were inadequate in fats, iron, riboflavin, niacin and carotene intake. Migration and Conflict in a Global Warming Era
This Special Issue explores underrepresented aspects of the political dimensions of global warming. It includes post- and decolonial perspectives on climate-related migration and conflict, intersectional approaches, and climate change politics as a new tool of governance. Its aim is to shed light on the social phenomena associated with anthropogenic climate change, as well as its multidimensional and far-reaching political effects, including climate-induced migration movements and climate-related conflicts in different parts of the world. In doing so, it critically engages with securitizing discourses and the resulting anti-migration arguments and policies in the Global North in order to identify and give a voice to alternative and hitherto underrepresented research and policy perspectives. In this way, it aims to contribute to a fact-based, critical, and holistic approach to human mobility and conflict in the context of political and environmental crisis.
