Accountability for After-School Care
Increasing numbers of children are participating in after-school programs, and with more federal and state funding the number of such programs is likely to grow. This growth has been occurring, however, with little guidance as to what program features or practices might be most helpful in nurturing the educational achievement, emotional development, and health of the children involved. This book helps fill that need for guidance by offering a set of 18 model practices against which after-school programs can be evaluated. The authors provide ways to score adherence to the criteria, from excellent to inadequate; survey forms for collecting the information to assign these grades; and an illustrative application of their approach to a set of real-world after-school programs.

Civilian Health Insurance Options of Military Retirees
Pilot survey of military retirees provides useful information on retirees' health care status, civilian health insurance enrollment, and reliance on TRICARE, the Department of Defense sponsored health care plan. Findings suggest that retirees with civilian health insurance also continue to rely on TRICARE for medical and drug coverage and that higher premiums for civilian health insurance may cause them to shift entirely to TRICARE.
Assessing Patient Experiences with Healthcare in Multi-cultural Settings
This dissertation examines patient experiences with healthcare in multi-cultural settings. The first three chapters present a theoretical conceptualization of patient satisfaction, a general framework for producing culturally appropriate survey instruments, and an assessment of the readability level of the Consumer Assessments of Health Plans Study (CAHPS(Registered)) 2.0 surveys.
