O Direito, a Economia e a Sociedade seguem a ideia de interdisciplinaridade que permitirá ao leitor passear pelas ciências jurídicas, econômicas e sociais com vistas à compreender em cada capítulo instalado, uma visão de mundo acerca das mais variadas temáticas abordadas que alçam o indivíduo, na cruciante verdade. Tráfico humano: traços da economia e do direito
Violência, abuso, fraude, trauma, escravização são algumas das palavras que os leitores encontraram nesse compêndio. O tráfico de humanos, no seu nível mais básico, é definido, em primeira mão, nos Estados Unidos, expressos na lei de Proteção às Vítimas de Tráfico de Seres Humanos, lei 2000, como: “o recrutamento, abrangendo transporte, conexões de organizações, ou obtenção de seres humanos para trabalho ou serviços através do uso da força, fraude, ou coerção para fins de servidão sexual involuntária ou escravização”. Ao longo desses capítulos, o leitor é convidado a deixar de lado preconcepções e entender que o tráfico é ipso facto fenômeno da pobreza e da ausência de cidadania em muitos países. Esse tema especialmente prevalecente, insurge uma das mais proeminentes indústrias: a indústria do sexo. O tráfico também é uma terceira via para a escravatura, mas conserva em si a mais terrível face da pobreza e da indigência inesgotável.

New Technologies, Mobility and Security
NTMS’2007 was the first IFIP International Conference on New Technologies, Mobility and Security that was held from May 2 to May 4, 2007 in Paris, France. It was aimed at fostering advances in the areas such as New Technologies, Wireless Networks, Mobile Computing, Ad hoc and Ambient Networks, QoS, Network Security and E-commerce. It provided a dynamic forum for researchers, students and professionals to present their research and development in these areas.
Excellence in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education
The initial ‘idea’ for the book emerged during the seminar Sharing of Innovative Pedagogical Practices that occurred at the University of Coimbra (Portugal) in 2018. Like all ‘good ideas’, this one originated in a conversation between colleagues from the University of Coimbra and the University of West London in the United Kingdom. The ‘idea’ of this book was to move away from sharing experiences related to teaching and learning in higher education in just one or two countries, but instead to organise a more European view about the policy, research and teaching practices that are shaping the way our students learn, academics teach and do research. We have a total of 16 chapters from academics in Portugal, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, and the Czech Republic. The book is organised in four interrelated themes: (1) policy and quality; (2) professionalisation of teaching and academic development; (3) research and teaching nexus; and (4) pedagogy and practice. The Atlantic Forest
The Atlantic Forest is one of the 36 hotspots for biodiversity conservation worldwide. It is a unique, large biome (more than 3000 km in latitude; 2500 in longitude), marked by high biodiversity, high degree of endemic species and, at the same time, extremely threatened. Approximately 70% of the Brazilian population lives in the area of this biome, which makes the conflict between biodiversity conservation and the sustainability of the human population a relevant issue. This book aims to cover: 1) the historical characterization and geographic variation of the biome; 2) the distribution of the diversity of some relevant taxa; 3) the main threats to biodiversity, and 4) possible opportunities to ensure the biodiversity conservation, and the economic and social sustainability. Also, it is hoped that this book can be useful for those involved in the development of public policies aimed at the conservation of this important global biome.
