Who exactly is the real Charlotte Church? Is she the "voice of an angel" who found fame and earned millions before she was 15? Or is she the "hell's angel" who dominates the tabloids by falling out of bars and into taxis in the early hours? Model and musician Steve Johnson is the only man who really knows. In this passionate autobiography, Steve reveals exactly how his love for Charlotte began, how their shared love of music kept them together, and how external pressures led to their explosive, heart-breaking split. From the back streets of Cardiff to the concert halls of Las Vegas and the skyscrapers of Hong Kong, Charlotte and Steve's story is romantic, tragic, and shocking. Told here for the first time, it is a unique insight into the world of the modern celebrity, and into the very heart of Charlotte Church.

Voice of an Angel

Charlotte Church is 14 years old, but with the voice of a 23-year-old. She lives with her parents, Maria and James, in Cardiff. Her first stage appearance was at the age of three during a seaside holiday in Caervarvon. By the time she was eight the purity of her voice had won her many local singing competitions and when she responded to a request from a daytime televison programme to hear from 'talented kids' the sound of her voice singing on the phone caused the producers to invite her on to the show, which she completely stole. She was soon signed up by Sony Classical, and after the release of her album, Voice of an Angel, she was invited to perform for the Prince of Wales' 50th birthday celebrations at the Albert Hall, for Pope John Paul's Christmas concert at the Vatican and for President Clinton at the White House. Her ambition is to sing at La Scala, Milan.

Keep Smiling

Charlotte Church burst onto the music scene when she was only 12 years old. She went straight to the top of the charts with VOICE OF AN ANGEL and sang for the Pope, the US President and royalty across the world. She released five classical albums, received numerous accolades and garnered more column inches than Jordan and Victoria Beckham put together, and yet we are still fascinated by this Welsh star. Candid to the last, in this autobiography Charlotte reveals herself as never before. She talks of her life, career, family and loves and impending motherhood with surprising intimacy and, being true to her outspoken reputation, complete honesty. Keeping her feet firmly on the ground, Charlotte Church is a genuine superstar of our times. She combines being a style icon and international diva with being a true family person who always makes sure she has supper with her nan every Tuesday night. Including beautiful photographic spreads and candid snapshots from behind the scenes, the book will be unique in the market and offer an insight into the managing of true talent and the demands of modern celebrity.

Port Charlotte

Large landholders sold property in this unknown paradise to working-class people, and since the 1950s, Port Charlotte has had a colorful history of progress. In the '50s, General Development Corporation created Port Charlotte by expanding the canals previously dug by John Murdock to drain the swampy land. The Mackle Company carved Arthur Frizzell's 80,000 acres into small, perfectly rectangular lots for resale to middle-class retirees--the targets of mass advertising and sales practices that included displaying models of Port Charlotte in department stores throughout Chicago and New York. Encouraging retirees to come to Port Charlotte resulted in the area having one of the highest concentrations of residents aged 65 and older in the nation. Port Charlotte's boom-and-bust history is a microcosm of the frenzied social and economic growth that transformed Florida in the second half of the 20th century.
