Ambient Assistive Health and Wellness Management in the Heart of the City
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 7th International Conference On Smart Homes and and Health Telematics, ICOST 2009, held in Tours, France, in July 2009. The 27 revised full papers and 20 short papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from numerous submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on cognitive assistance and chronic diseases management; ambient living systems; service continuity and context awareness; user modeling and human-machine interaction; ambient intelligence modeling and privacy issues, human behavior and activities monitoring.
Intelligent Patient Management
Arguably medicine is either an arts-based science or a science-based art. In medieval times, clinical decisions were based on simple measures, such as the temperature of the body, the rhythm of the pulse, the consistency of the stool and the colour of the urine. Nowadays, thanks partly to modern technology, medical science has improved in many ways, as has healthcare. In particular, approaches which have their origins in Artificial Intelligence and Operational Research have a significant contribution to make in terms of improving not only diagnosis and treatment of patients, but also providing ways of managing patients in a more effective, more efficient, and more patient-friendly manner. This book focuses on the use of such Intelligent Patient Management to the benefit of clinicians, other healthcare and community practitioners and managers, patients and carers.
Ubiquitous Computing and Ambient Intelligence
This LNCS double volume LNCS 10069-10070 constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Ubiquitous Computing and Ambient Intelligence, UCAmI 2016, which includes the International Work Conference on Ambient Assisted Living (IWAAL), and the International Conference on Am-bient Intelligence for Health (AmIHEALTH), held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, in November/December 2016. The 69 full papers presented together with 40 short papers and 5 doctoral consortium papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 145 submissions. Sixth Biennial Conference of the European Society for Engineering and Medicine
The European Society for Engineering and Medicine is representative of both the engineering and medicine communities, with membership drawn across Europe. The aim of the society is to provide a bridge between the two communities to facilitate engineering solutions to medical problems. The ESEM 2001 conference had a real-world focus and scientific papers were selected on the basis of their clinical application. Contributors at the conference were worldwide to reflect the global relevance and significance of the topics. The papers reflect the three main tracks of the conference: health information systems; bioengineering; and medical instrumentation and imaging. Within each of these areas there are a number of sub-themes on a diverse range of topics, such as: tissue engineering and artificial organs; computers in medicine; and biomedical processing and modelling.
