In response to the recommendations from the 2022 Institutional Safeguards Review (ISR), a comprehensive Implementation Plan (IP) was developed drawing on the work undertaken by a Board Steering Group, Management, and staff. The IP, which was discussed and endorsed by the Board in December 2022, outlined a set of actions and policy changes that reflected the strong shared commitment of the Board and Management to a durable change in the institution and the highest standards of institutional governance. Substantial progress has been made in advancing the IP actions that were due to be completed in CY2023, with 85 percent of the actions having been completed or remaining on track for completion.
This management implementation plan (MIP) proposes eight reformulated actions that would benefit from further follow up, in line with the Board-approved Categorization of Open Actions in MIPs. The MIP aims to strengthening the continuity of the relationship between the Fund and member countries, enhancing knowledge sharing across successive country teams, improving incentives for sound data management, alleviating country authorities’ concerns about disclosure, and creating a more robust review process for working papers.
Using individual level data on task composition at work for 30 advanced and emerging economies, we find that women, on average, perform more routine tasks than men?tasks that are more prone to automation. To quantify the impact on jobs, we relate data on task composition at work to occupation level estimates of probability of automation, controlling for a rich set of individual characteristics (e.g., education, age, literacy and numeracy skills). Our results indicate that female workers are at a significantly higher risk for displacement by automation than male workers, with 11 percent of the female workforce at high risk of being automated given the current state of technology, albeit with significant cross-country heterogeneity. The probability of automation is lower for younger cohorts of women, and for those in managerial positions.

Key topics include i) identifying and assessing macrocritical gender gaps; ii) the “light touch” and “deep dive” approaches; iii) early insights on integrating gender into IMF-supported programs; iv) capacity development on gender or with a gender lens; v) synergies with other workstreams and vi) the importance of collaboration. It also includes summaries and links to relevant tools, databases, IMF staff reports, and relevant literature.
How could the GovTech improve budget processes and execution efficiency? Could the GovTech strengthen redistributive function of public expenditure? Based on an event-study method, this paper finds that the introduction of digital budget payments and e-procurement could significantly enhance budget transparency and help expand the coverage of social assistance to reach the most vulnerable population.
