Aspects of the Performative in Medieval Culture
The volume assesses performative structures within a variety of medieval forms of textuality, from vernacular literature to records of parliamentary proceedings, from prayer books to musical composition. Three issues are central to the volume: the role of ritual speech acts; the way in which authorship can be seen as created within medieval texts rather than as a given category; finally, phenomena of voice, created and situated between citation and repetition, especially in forms which appropriate and transform literary tradition. The volume encompasses articles by historians and musicologists as well as literary scholars. It spans European literature from the West (French, German, Italian) to the East (Church Slavonic), vernacular and Latin; it contrasts modes of liturgical meditation in the Western and Eastern Church with secular plays and songs, and it brings together studies on the character of ‛voice’ in major medieval authors such as Dante with examples of Dante-reception in the early twentieth century.

Forever Faithful
This is the third in a series of genealogical studies of German families that emigrated to the Kingdom of Hungary in the early 18th century and settled in Somogy County. Kötcse is the oldest of the three major German Lutheran parishes that evolved and numerous families from Kötcse were instrumental in the establishment of the other two. The family histories of those who settled in the parish of Somogydöröcske are included in the volume: Dörnberg: In the Shadow of the Josefsberg; and those from the parish of Ecsény in From Toleration to Expulsion that both preceded this publication. In addition to the genealogical information the author provides the historical context and other information vital to an understanding of the lifestyle, traditions and ultimate destiny of their sojourn in Hungary and beyond.
Investment Report 2022/2023 - Key Findings
Political strife caused by the war in Ukraine, an energy crisis and tightening credit are hitting EU firms just as they were beginning to emerge from the COVID-19 crisis. While the pandemic was a major shock, sizable policy support enabled firms to survive and transform. Relatively easy access to funding also helped them weather the crisis. Pandemic support has since been pulled back, however, and now firms are grappling with high inflation, instability and tighter credit conditions. These combined pressures are souring firms' outlook. The report provides insight into the state of the European economy and its ability to withstand these crises while also becoming greener and more digital. The analysis is based on the EIB Group's annual Investment Survey, which surveyed 13 000 firms in the European Union from April until July 2022 on their performance, investment, financing issues and challenges. These key findings, provide a short accessible summary of the main report's messages.

In recent years Culture Studies, Anthropology, German Studies, History, Political Psychology, and other fields have used the concept of 'exile' in close connection with terms like migration, border crossing, identity, and transnationality. Views of a homogeneous culture and of centricity collide with ideas like multiculturalism, pluralism, creolization, and the globalization of differences. Oxygen Transport to Tissue
It can honestly be said that the scope and magnitude of this meeting surpassed initial expectations with respect to the number and quality of the papers presented. Our group has grown since we last met in Dortmund in 1971. This is a good indication that a spiraling of our interests has taken place with the effects of the initial good work felt, not just in one corner of the globe, but in all four. With such a start, it was only appropriate that an international society was formed at the meeting to further coordinate our mutual undertaking. Henceforth it shall be known as the International Society of Oxygen Transport to Tissue. A final note of acknowledgement should be made to those who were in the supporting cast, not only in making the meeting in Charleston and Clemson a success, but also in the compiling of this book. Gratitude is due to Dr. Daniel H. Hunt for his efforts, the end product of which you have in your hands. Considerable service was rendered by Mr. Robert J. This is the European Investment Bank's ninth annual report in this series, which covers Africa's banking system, financial markets, digitalisation/fintech and climate finance. It draws on the EIB Banking in Africa Survey 2024, carried out between February and March 2024. The survey covered 51 banks across sub-Saharan Africa and the report draws on evidence from the World Bank Enterprise Surveys and a range of other data sources.
