Museums and cultural centres play an important role in the re-emergence of cultural autonomy in indigenous societies. The May 1994 symposium, Curatorship: Indigenous Perspectives in Post-Colonial Societies, examined the realignment of relationships between indigenous and non-indigenous peoples of the Commonwealth in the context of traditional museum practices. Key Competences in Physics Teaching and Learning
This book presents a selection of the best contributions to GIREP EPEC 2015, the Conference of the International Research Group on Physics Teaching (GIREP) and the European Physical Society’s Physics Education Division (EPS PED). It introduces readers interested in the field to the problem of identifying strategies and tools to improve physics teaching and learning so as to convey Key Competences and help students acquire them. The main topic of the conference was Key Competences (KC) in physics teaching and learning in the form of knowledge, skills and attitudes that are fundamental for every member of society. Crossing Boundaries in Science Teacher Education
This book is based on the European Comenius project CROSSNET with eight case studies about innovation and science teacher education in six European countries. Guiding questions were how teachers, policy makers and teacher educators collaborate in the process of change and how local background projects respond to opportunities for the exchange of experiences and reflection in terms of a common theoretical framework of boundary crossing. The case studies were conducted by local coordinators and contracted teachers. They are supplemented by a cross-case analysis of common and distinct features in the projects and an essay about the relationship between boundary crossing, transformative learning and curriculum theory. Main outcomes are about school-based reform and collaboration for science education.

Upgrading Physics Education to Meet the Needs of Society
Nations around the globe consider physics education an important tool of economic and social development and currently advocate the use of innovative strategies to prepare students for knowledge and skills acquisition. Particularly in the last decade, a series of revisions were made to physics curricula in an attempt to cope with the changing needs and expectations of society. Educational transformation is a major challenge due to educational systems’ resistance to change. Updated curriculum content, pedagogical facilities (for example, computers in a school), new teaching and learning strategies and the prejudice against girls in physics classes are all issues that have to be addressed. Educational research provides a way to build schemas and resources to promote changes in physics education.
