Dall sheep are known as an only wild white sheep, found only in central and northern Alaska, and the Yukon Territory, Canada. Dall sheep stay in such places as open ridges and steep slopes with extremely rugged ground, to allow escape from predators. But such habitation makes it difficult for photographers to catch a sight of their living. Uemura moved to Canada with his wife and kept following Dall sheep. This book features more than 80 photos selected from his archive.

Series statement from publishers website.
Radio-collars were fitted on eighteen Dall sheep at three study sites in the western Noatak National Preserve in Alaska in order to study movement patterns and foraging ecology. Movements were monitored from June 1983 through November 1985. Methods used to investigate foraging ecology included observations of foraging sheep, analysis of fecal composition, analysis of nitrogen content of feces, and plant sampling in forage areas. The purpose of the study was to provide the National Park Service and interested scientists with baseline data on Dall sheep in the preserve.
