"The semi-circular motif is a family tree my grandmother Alice Mayer recorded to protect her Protestant side of the family from Nazi Germany because of her mixed marriage. The family tree dates back to 1753 proving there was no Jewish lineage on her side. My grandfather Friedrich Mayer who was Jewish perished in Auschwitz and my father and his brother Paul Mayer spent time in a forced labor camp. The front cover image is of cell division symbolic of the forced situation and the separation of families. The interior pop-out section of the origami bookform shows a 1939 work record from my father at age 19. Opposite in my handwriting is a William Blake quote that reflects on a fleeting moment. One of the images on the back cover is of bombed out Frankfurt taken by my Aunt Helga after one of the allied air strikes. The second remarkable picture is of my father and his childhood friend Willi Krebs (in uniform) who was drafted into the Nazi youth. They remained friends throughout and long after the war."--Dan Mayer, Tempe, AZ.

Magic is a dying art, and most of the world has no idea it exists. A young detective named John begins investigating an elusive criminal with a talent for disappearing. A college student named Vivian makes an incredible discovery hiding in plain sight. Both find themselves clashing with the same mysterious man, a sarcastic stranger in a black bowler hat, and he's not the only danger they face. The Mage's Code (book 01: search) is a fantasy adventure novel full of suspense and mystery. The story is intended for a young-adult to adult audience, and contains some profanity and suggestive themes. This is the first in the book series The Mage's Code by Daniel P Mayer. The second book in the series will be published at a later date, unless this one just doesn't sell at all, in which case I'll devote my time to better things. There are a lot of good books out there to read these days.

The first comprehensive survey of a pioneering artist, encompassing photographs, film and video, architectural models, pavilion installations, conceptual projects for magazine pages, drawings and prints, and writings. Dan Graham is one of the most significant figures to emerge from the 1960s moment of Conceptual art, with a practice that pioneered a range of art forms, modes, and ideas that are now fundamental to contemporary art. The thrust of his practice has always pointed beyond: beyond the art object, beyond the studio, beyond the medium, beyond the gallery, beyond the self. Beyond all these categories and into the realm of the social, the public, the democratic, the mass produced, the ...
