This volume is a collection of Dr. Rechcigl's essays, surveys, and personal insights relating to the history and the contributions of Czech and Slovak immigrants in America. The texts traces the Bohemian and Moravian pioneers in Colonial America, the Moravian Brethren, the first Slovaks in America, and the Jewish pioneer settlers from the territory of former Czechoslovakia. Rechcigl also emphasizes the the Bohemian, Moravian and Slovak contributions to American science and scholarship.
This collection of papers is based on presentations made at the 1997 Annual Meeting and Conference of the Czechoslovak Society of Arts and Sciences held July 12-13, 1997, the the Bell County Exposition Center in Belton, TX, in conjunction with the 100th Anniversary of the Slovonic Benevolent Order of the State of Texas.
This is the second volume of Pennsylvania German Church Records, a three-volume series which gives the genealogist access to all of the church records ever published in the Proceedings and Addresses of the Pennsylvania German Society .
