The Crossroads Elections
This wide-ranging collection acquaints American college instructors with insightful contributions and critical reflections from Europe on the study of campaigns, elections, Congress, and political behavior. Using an organizing conceptual framework of a "crossroads," which sets two parties apart on traditional democratic values, more than a dozen experts examine the political environment, issues, candidates, campaigns, media, and voters of the 2022 midterm election. These transactions publish research in computer-based methods of computational collective intelligence (CCI) and their applications in a wide range of fields such as performance optimization in IoT, big data, reliability, privacy, security, service selection, QoS and machine learning. This thirty-fourth issue contains 12 selected papers which present new findings and innovative methodologies as well as discuss issues and challenges in the field of collective intelligence in group decision making with special emphasize given to voting theory, power indices and graphs while addressing elections, social choices, IoT and allocation algorithms.
The Polish Delegation in the European Parliament
Based on the example of the Polish delegation to the European Parliament, the book examines the factors influencing the cohesion and stability of EP national delegations. It takes into account the impact of institutional arrangements such as the electoral law and the candidate selection process, the ideological and programmatic profiles of political parties, the career paths of MEPs, affiliation to political groups in the EP, group switching, as well as the significance of Euroscepticism and national divisions transferred to the European level. It is not a typical case study, as the regularities discovered through the in-depth analysis of the Polish national delegation are compared with those characteristic of other national delegations in the EP. The book fills a gap in studies devoted to the EP, in which the importance of national delegations has not so far been the subject of thorough analyses.
