Doyle Williams has written a family history focusing on his mother, Carrie Viola Reeves, her siblings, Emma, Annie, and Charlie, and her parents, James Morgan Reeves and Sarah Frances Spencer. In this story he describes the turmoil that enveloped James Morgan as a small child in Arkansas during the Civil War and how it took his father's life and the lives of five of his siblings. He follows James Morgan as he moves to Texas with his mother, leaving home at age ten to find his own way, and returning to Arkansas to grow up and marry. When his wife, Elizabeth Wolf, dies leaving him with a large family to rear, he returns to Texas, where he finds a new wife in Sarah Frances Spencer. James Morgan and Sarah move to Oklahoma Territory in the early 1890s, make their lives there and rear their own family. The author follows the children of James Morgan and Sarah as they grow up, marry, and eventually care for their aging parents. This is the story of an American pioneering family.

The Politics of Murder

This true crime investigation of a Boston teenager’s murder trial is “a chilling story about corruption, political power and a stacked judicial system" (John Ferak, author of Failure of Justice). On a hot night in July 1995, Janet Downing was stabbed ninety-eight times in her Somerville home, two miles northwest of Boston. Within hours, fifteen-year-old Eddie O’Brien was identified as the prime suspect. The best friend of one of Janet’s sons, Eddie was a peculiar choice. He had no criminal record or symptoms of mental illness. He had neither motive nor opportunity to commit the crime—while others had both. And yet, powers far beyond Somerville decided that Eddie was guilty. Perhaps...

Arctic Transformations

"The Wallaces' innovative jewelry explores a contemporary style that is rooted in the traditions of Denise's Chugach culture. Its designs are inspired by the people, animals and the natural environment of Alaska. The Wallaces are storytellers who use fossil ivory, silver, and richly colored stones as their medium rather than words. "My grandmother used to tell me stories when I was young, and I incorporate some of them into my work," Denise explains. "My main goal is, through my work, to express Alaska Native culture." To convey the concept of movement and transformation that is central to the Wallaces' work, the book includes eight gatefolds of their major storytelling belts, all seen at nearly actual size. The other eight belts are displayed on double page spreads. Each belt is illustrated with its historic and contemporary influences as well as being grouped with the pieces that originally came from or were influenced by it. The belts, which are seen together here for the first time, are artistic and technical masterpieces"--Publisher's website.
