Epilepsy and Alzheimer’s disease: shared pathology, clinical presentations, and targets for treatment
Emerging data suggest a link between Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and epilepsy. AD and other dementias pose increased risk for seizures, with seizure incidence in AD up to ten times greater than in age-matched controls. Mouse models of AD also demonstrate seizures and abnormal spikes or sharp wave discharges (“interictal epileptiform discharges” [IEDs]) on electroencephalography (EEG). Seizures and IEDs may underlie fluctuating cognitive abilities in AD, with the impact of antiseizure medication (ASM) requiring further investigation. Critical Studies of Innovation
Different theories, models and narratives of innovation compete for both legitimacy and authority. However, despite the variations, they all offer a consistent pro-innovation bias, dismissing resistance as irrational, and overlooking the value of non-users and collateral impacts. This book looks at innovation from a different perspective and asks, what has been left out? It offers a reflexive view and invites researchers to consider new avenues of research, through a critique of current representations of innovation.

Globalization and the Seduction of Africa's Ruling Class
Assessing development thinking from a multidisciplinary perspective, this work argues that Africa is undeveloped not in spite of globalization, but precisely because of globalization's saintly mission of unbridled liberalization and Euro-American teleology, which has reduced the African governing class to a body of abandonment-neurotics, co-conspirators in the First World's human and economic genocides. The work suggests subsequently that, provided Africans remain impervious to the anti-Asian agitation which is sweeping the Euro-American world today, they have invaluable lessons in standpoint development to learn from India's and China's experiences with liberalism as well as constructive alliances to establish with these emerging transitional nations.
