Pengembangan kepariwisataan di daerah merupakan pilar pembangunan daerah yang menduduki posisi penting karena memberikan kontribusi pada penerimaan PAD, penyerapan investasi dan tenaga kerja, serta pengembangan wilayah. Usaha memperbesar pendapatan asli daerah (PAD) dan untuk dapat memperoleh sumbangan besar bagi pembangunan ekonomi daerah maka program pengembangan dan pemanfaatan sumber daya dan potensi pariwisata daerah perlu ditingkatkan. Hal ini sesuai dengan tujuan penyelenggaraan kepariwisataan adalah untuk meningkatkan pendapatan nasional, memperluas dan memeratakan kesempatan berusaha dan lapangan kerja serta mendorong pembangunan daerah, memperkenalkan dan mendayagunakan daya tarik wisata dan destinasi di daerah serta memupuk rasa cinta tanah air dan mempererat persahabatan antarbangsa. Di samping itu, pembangunan kepariwisataan diselenggarakan dalam rangka meningkatkan kesejahteraan rakyat dengan berorientasi pada pengembangan wilayah, bertumpu kepada masyarakat dan bersifat memberdayakan masyarakat.

Communal Violence and Democratization in Indonesia
Through close scrutiny of empirical materials and interviews, this book uniquely analyzes all the episodes of long-running, widespread communal violence that erupted during Indonesia’s post-New Order transition. Indonesia democratised after the long and authoritarian New Order regime ended in May 1998. But the transition was far less peaceful than is often thought. It claimed about 10,000 lives in communal (ethnic and religious) violence, and nearly as many as that again in separatist violence in Aceh and East Timor. Taking a comprehensive look at the communal violence that arose after the New Order regime, this book will be of interest to students of Southeast Asian studies, social movements, political violence and ethnicity.

Plant breeders continue to make significant advances in developing high yield ing, adaptable, disease-free crops.
