Some said that the killer couldn't be a local. Others claimed that he was the wealthy son of a prominent Morgantown family. Whispers spread that Mared and Karen were sacrificed by a satanic cult or had been victims of a madman poised to strike again. Descendants of Hampton and Nancy Riddle, 1814-1972
Hampton Riddle was born in 1814 in North Carolina. He is thought to have 1/2 Indian (Choctaw). He married Nancy Daniel(s) in about 1837, and moved to Cherokee County, Alabama. He died in 1861.
