On September 11, 2018, Navy SEAL Chief Edward Gallagher-a highly-decorated combat veteran with deployments to war zones in Cosovo, Africa, Afghanistan, and Iraq-was arrested for war crimes at the TBI medical clinic where he was receiving treatment. His incarceration was the culmination of a year-long whisper campaign started by a group of disgruntled underlings after a successful deployment decimating ISIS in Mosul, Iraq. After that deployment, Chief Gallagher was named the #1 Chief at SEAL Team 7, nominated for a Silver Star for valor on the battlefield, and listed for promotion. A few junior members of the platoon whom Chief Gallagher had called out for cowardice and ineptitude decided the...

This was a very newsworthy case of a Navy SEAL accused of murdering an ISIS prisoner of war by stabbing him in the neck after trying to save his life with emergency medical procedures. Everything about the case was controversial including that Gallagher was accused by other SEALS under his command who resented the extreme combat situations Gallagher subjected them to. Gallagher himself was a highly decorated war hero from fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan and he felt the new S EAL recruits were soft and even cowardly. It was the old school against the new.Eventually Gallagher was found not guilty for the killing of the prisoner and his record was mostly exonerated except that he posed with the body of the dead ISIS fighter. It was a far lesser charge and instead of life in prison, Gallagher just took a cut in his rank and pay. President Trump got involved and hinted that he would pardon Gallagher if he was found guilty, and the President sent him a congratulatory note when he was found innocent.

Who's In Charge?

Who's in Charge?, written by Eddie Gallagher, is a book aimed at helping parents unravel the mysteries of violent and abusive children. For those who don't have difficult teenage children, this book will come as something of a thunderbolt as the misery that some parents and families endure is not well-documented or discussed. For those whose children are reasonably normal and average, this will come as something of a relief! Never again will you complain about sour faces, bad moods and bombsite bedrooms. Eddie Gallagher's main objective is to explore the facts and expose the taboo that surrounds the concept of children perpetrating violent acts upon their parents. However, Who's in Charge? c...

When war broke out in 1939, my father, Ed Gallagher, joined the Royal Australian Air Force—he wanted to be “doing something to give Adolf a smack in the eye”. In very short order, he found himself flying over the Bay of Biscay in a Sunderland flying boat, transmitting Morse code and searching for U-boats, while often engaged in intense air-to-air skirmishes with German fighter planes. His detailed diaries describe the sometimes thrilling, sometimes boring days of men at war. His letters to my mother, who he had recently fallen in love with, reveal not only his boundless love, but also the unbearable suffering that separation from loved ones brings. After my mother's death, fifty-two years following the end of the war, my sister and I discovered 106 of Dad's letters that Mum had kept in old shoeboxes … and so began my “PS: Love Me” journey. Ed's toned-down letters, intermingled with his tell-it-like-it-is diary entries, convey a happy-sad tale of love, separation, and loss, and of the horrible waste of war.

Fighting for the Confederacy

Originally published by UNC Press in 1989, Fighting for the Confederacy is one of the richest personal accounts in all of the vast literature on the Civil War. Alexander was involved in nearly all of the great battles of the East, from First Manassas through Appomattox, and his duties brought him into frequent contact with most of the high command of the Army of Northern Virginia, including Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, and James Longstreet. No other Civil War veteran of his stature matched Alexander's ability to discuss operations in penetrating detail-- this is especially true of his description of Gettysburg. His narrative is also remarkable for its utterly candid appraisals of leaders on both sides.
